A WONDROUS EVENT!

The Isle of Wonders fantasy festival took place from June 28 to June 30, 2024, and during those days, Cres truly resembled a forgotten world from a magical story; enormous, colorful tentacles of a menacing kraken emerged from the fountain in the city center, a dragon blocked the city gates, and a majestic griffon vulture perched beside the Pišarjola.

We are particularly proud of the opening ceremony; knights from the order Red Čuvara Zagreba, led by our guest of honor Jed Brophy, landed in the harbor and boldly marched up to the Cres tower along with many visitors and tourists. After freeing the tower from an evil sorceress, Jed declared the festival OPEN! The magic could finally begin!

And indeed, it continued! Throughout three beautiful days, festival participants could enjoy a variety of events. There were games, exhibitions, workshops, and lectures for adults and children alike (which we’re especially proud of!).

The cosplay competition was incredibly well-attended, and festival-goers had opportunities to create and paint miniatures, many of which were awarded prizes.

Each evening concluded with a spectacular concert on the promenade, featuring special guest Francesco Cavalieri from the band Wind Rose, as well as local bands Po’ metra crijeva and Veja.

This is where the true success of this event lies!

Thanks to numerous street performers, guests, and exhibitors, the entire city of Cres transformed into our own little, fantastic, medieval town during those days. We were thrilled to witness the Isle of Wonders, along with the Realms Long Forgotten association, becoming a place where people from different backgrounds could share similar interests and connect in a joyful community where everyone can feel accepted, authentic, and true to themselves.

Of course, this story doesn’t end here, and we’ve already marked the dates for the next Isle of Wonders, which will take place from June 27 to June 29, 2025! The list of special guests is already in the works, and we plan to make it even more fun and exciting.
